AIR CARGO CONTAINERS AMJ SURPASSES SIX HOURS OF TEMPERATURES OF 1,200F
Air Cargo Containers, developers of the only upper deck, composite, TSO c90d, fire resistant ULD have successfully conducted a six hour flammability test. Scott Oracheff, CEO of Air Cargo Containers, announced the milestone achievement today and congratulated the testing company, Firetrace International, Phoenix Arizona, for their cooperation in the test set up and facility management for this elaborate test done on their outdoor burn pad in 114 degree temperature. The test container was packed with cardboard boxes containing shredded paper in accordance with the MPS standard and the most extreme packing scheme specified by the Chief Engineer from one of the major cargo carriers. The burning operation was terminated after six hours when the Salt River Fire Department with their infra-red camera view of the fire activity concluded that the breech would not occur. This breakthrough will contribute to enabling aircraft to land safely in the event of containerized fire wherever it may be in the world and well surpass all ETOPS requirements. As expected, the composite panels, floor and door were still intact after withstanding sustained temperatures of over 1,200F. Fire resistance, coupled with the extraordinary strength of ACC composite substantially lighter (300 lbs.) than its aluminum ULD counterpart, a no warp floor tested to 4200 PSI, will create a replacement leap forward for cargo companies that have been saddled with the nightmare of repairs of fragile aluminum for decades. Air Cargo Container will soon launch a fire resistant lower deck container to provide a full complement of containers for cargo aircraft.

TenCate Advanced Armor signs teaming agreement with Air Cargo Containers
TenCate Advanced Armor USA has signed a teaming agreement with Air Cargo Containers, LLC to manufacture lightweight air cargo containers. The fully-certified, lightweight, composite air cargo containers have a tare weight of 480lbs or about 350 pounds less than competing aluminum containers, a 42 percent weight savings. These innovative protective containers will be presented this week at the World Cargo Symposium held in Los Angeles, California, United States of America.
Air Cargo Containers, LLC was granted Technical Standard Order (TSO C90d) certification for its lightweight-composite AMJ model Unit Load Device (ULD) in December 2013. It is the first all-composite container to receive this certification by the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). It is constructed of proprietary composite side panels and floor panel, built around an aerospace grade aluminum frame, for lightness and durability as well as improved maintenance characteristics and flame retardant capability. The composite material and assembly of the entire container will be done by TenCate Advanced Armor in Ohio, USA.

The lightweight composite container has a tare weight of 480lbs or about 350 pounds less than competing aluminum containers, a 42 percent weight savings. In addition, it incorporates a proprietary and patented roll-up door with destruction proof side glides and lock down Burn Testtures for safety in operation.

Today, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced Technical Standard Order (TSO) certification for a lightweight-composite AMJ model Unit Load Device (ULD) manufactured by Air Cargo Containers, LLC (ACC).
ACC’s Co-founder and CEO Scott Oracheff said, "We're excited to have reached the significant milestone of TSO certification. Our new AMJ ULD is the first truly composite upper deck ULD to receive TSO certification. It is constructed of proprietary composite side panels and floor, built around an aerospace grade aluminum frame, for lightness and durability as well as improved maintenance characteristics and flame retardant capability. The composite AMJ concept was originally conceived by The Boeing Company in conjunction with their on-going research and development of advanced composite structures. ACC gained access to Boeing’s preliminary design work for a prototype composite AMJ container by license arrangement. We then spent three years perfecting the design and associated composite technologies to satisfy all applicable regulatory requirements as well as the demanding requirements of the cargo industry’s leading participants. With TSO certification the ACC AMJ lightweight-composite ULD is now available for sale to air cargo carriers worldwide.
